Loofah Wholesale Price Guide 2026: What Drives Cost per Unit

The short answer

There is no single wholesale price for loofah. The format sets the starting point, and five things move it: size and fibre density, whitening method, packaging, order size and season. Most apparent price gaps between suppliers come from quoting different Incoterms (FOB against CIF) or different specifications. Send every supplier the same brief and the gaps mostly disappear.

Ask three loofah suppliers for a quote and you will often get three numbers that do not line up — sometimes one nearly double another for what looks like the same product. Most of that spread is easy to explain once you know what sits behind a quote.

There is no single price

Loofah is a farm product, not a moulded part. Two cartons from the same region can differ in fibre density, size and how well they were dried. What exists is a range that depends on the format.

Five things that move your price

1. Size and fibre density

Bigger pieces use more fibre and denser pieces use better-graded fibre, so both cost more. This is also where quotes mislead: a premium-grade sample, then thinner fibre in bulk. Tie the price to a size tolerance and a density you have held.

2. Whitening

Steam whitening takes longer and costs more than chemical bleaching. If a very white product is priced very low, ask how it was whitened.

3. Packaging

A bare piece with a paper band is at the bottom; a printed kraft box with a sleeve and barcode is well above it. Marketplace-compliant packing costs more up front and can save re-prep fees later.

4. Order size

Small orders cost more per piece. That is the price of testing a product with little risk; a 100-piece trial will not match container pricing. Start small, then watch the unit price as you scale with the same supplier.

5. Season

Loofah is harvested on a cycle, and storms in Central Vietnam can hit a season’s yield. Prices hold steadier with a supplier who buys directly from growers and plans stock ahead.

FOB or CIF? Check before you compare

FOB covers the goods loaded on the ship in Vietnam; freight, insurance and import costs are yours. CIF includes freight and insurance to your destination port. A CIF quote should be higher than an FOB quote for the same goods. If a “cheaper” supplier is quoting FOB against a competitor’s CIF, the freight bill has simply been left off the page. EXW, FCA, FOB, CIF, DAP and DDP are quoted; always name the place with the term. FCA is the correct term for an air shipment — FOB is not. DDP suits a first-time importer who would rather not handle customs, though import VAT is usually not recoverable that way; DAP suits a VAT-registered buyer.

The cheapest quote often costs the most

  • Thinner or lower-grade fibre than the approved sample.
  • Skipped drying, so goods arrive musty or mouldy.
  • Packaging that fails marketplace prep.
  • Missing documents, so goods cannot clear customs.

The number that matters is not price per piece, but the cost of landing stock you can actually sell.

How to ask for a quote you can compare

  • Product and size, with a tolerance.
  • Fibre density, ideally against a sample.
  • Whitening method.
  • Pack: bare, band, sleeve, box, gift box; barcode or not.
  • Quantity: first order and reorder target.
  • Incoterm and named place.
  • Documents your market needs.

Send that brief to two or three suppliers and you end up comparing products instead of marketing.

Frequently asked

Why don't you publish prices on the website?

Because price depends on SKU, quantity, pack and Incoterm. Request the current price list for your market on the wholesale catalogue page.

Does a 100-piece trial cost more per piece?

Yes. Small orders carry more handling per unit. The trial is there to test the product before a larger order.

Is FOB always cheaper?

The number is lower because freight and insurance are not included. Compare landed cost, not the quote line.
